Getting started
12Open your workspace, choose a study type, and follow the guided builder. You can launch in minutes or save a draft for later.
Azi is a South African user-research and participant-recruitment platform. Businesses use Azi to create and run studies, while participants take part in suitable studies and share honest feedback.
Usability tests, surveys, card sorts, first-click tests and interviews are all supported from the same builder.
User research helps a team understand how real people experience a product, service, idea or prototype. A study might ask participants to answer questions, review information or complete a task in an interactive prototype. The aim is to learn what works, what is confusing and what could be improved.
Go to workspace settings and send an invite by email. New teammates get access as soon as they accept.
Azi has two portals. The Business portal is for organisations and research teams that want to run studies. The Participant portal is for adults who want to take part in research opportunities.
Yes, open any past study and choose Duplicate to reuse its setup, tasks and screening questions.
Azi is built with South African audiences and context at its core. The available locations, demographics and languages for a particular study depend on the current participant panel and the criteria selected by the research team.
Azi is currently in an early adopter phase. This means selected users can use the platform while Azi learns from real-world use and continues improving it. Some workflows are supported directly by the Azi team and some features may change before the full subscription offering launches.
Some parts of Azi may be identified as beta, pilot or early access. These features may change, be temporarily unavailable or occasionally contain errors. Azi will take reasonable steps to communicate material changes, and beta status does not remove rights protected by law.
Register as a Business and verify your email address or phone number. New Business workspaces enter an approval stage before onboarding. Once approved, complete your business details to access the workspace.
Business registrations are reviewed during the early adopter phase. A pending status means your application has been received but access has not yet been approved. If it has been pending longer than expected, contact support@aziresearch.com using the same address or phone number you registered with.

Recruiting participants
16We match your criteria against our verified local panel and invite qualifying testers directly.
Yes, set multiple locations in your screening criteria and we will recruit across all of them.
You can invite your own testers by link alongside panel recruitment, or use only your own list.
Every panel member completes an identity and device check before their first study.
Add detailed screening questions and we will recruit specifically against them, sometimes with a longer lead time.
Yes. Choose Azi Crew when sending a test live to recruit from Azi's participant panel. You can set the required number of participants and use the demographic filters currently available in the portal.
Yes. Choose Own Participants to generate a shareable link for people you recruit yourself. You can run this online or in person, and using your own participant link does not consume Azi Crew credits.
Azi Crew uses Azi's panel and your selected targeting criteria; its cost is estimated in credits before launch. Own Participants lets you distribute a link to your own audience and has no Azi Crew credit cost. You remain responsible for recruiting and communicating with your own participants.
The current publishing flow creates a distribution for the audience you select. If you need both audience sources, create separate send-live groups so their status and results can be reviewed separately.
You can target Azi Crew using the demographic filters currently shown in the Send Live flow. Available filters depend on the participant information and targeting options supported at the time. Contact Azi if you need a niche audience that the portal does not currently cover.
Use the location options available in the targeting step. If your required combination is not available, contact Azi before publishing so the team can confirm whether a custom or managed recruitment approach is possible.
Azi may use information such as age range, location, languages, education, employment, interests, device access and technology use. A match or invitation does not guarantee final eligibility; a study may still include screening or verification questions.
Azi uses account verification, profile information and study-specific checks to help prevent inaccurate targeting, duplication and fraud.
Contact Azi before launching. The team can confirm whether the current panel, a recruitment partner or a managed recruitment service is appropriate. Specialist recruitment may need more time and may involve additional costs or terms.
Yes. Participation is voluntary. Participants can accept or decline each opportunity, and declining one study does not prevent them from receiving other suitable opportunities.
Yes. Azi may work with external panels, recruiters or community organisations. Where relevant, the study information should explain the partner's role, any additional terms and who is responsible for the reward.

Building and running studies
11You can create studies using information screens, multiple-choice questions, open-text questions and interactive Figma prototype tasks. These can support concept feedback, surveys and prototype usability research.
Yes. Changes to test elements are saved automatically after a brief delay, including when you move between elements. Before closing the browser, wait for any saving indicator to finish.
Yes. Use the duplicate option on a test card to reuse an existing test as a starting point. Folder duplication is not currently available.
Variants are different versions of the same test. Each variant can have its own structure. You can add, rename, duplicate or delete variants and review results by variant after launch.
Yes. The dedicated Preview view simulates the participant experience for each variant. Check instructions, required questions, answer choices and prototype flows before sending the test live.
Add a Figma prototype task and paste the prototype share link, not the ordinary file link. Make sure the prototype's sharing permissions allow it to be viewed, select the intended mobile or desktop device, and define the start and goal of the task.
Check that you copied a prototype share link, that the link is accessible with the required viewing permissions and that the prototype has a valid starting point. If it still fails, try the link in a private browser window and then contact support@aziresearch.com with the test name and a description of the error. Do not send confidential credentials.
Re-sync the prototype in the builder after making changes in Figma, then verify the device setup and task flow again. Changes to frames or connections may affect previously selected start or goal nodes.
Yes. Images are stored in a workspace media library and can be reused in multiple tests. The library shows where an image is in use to help prevent accidental deletion.
Choose Send Live, label the distribution, select Azi Crew or Own Participants, set the available audience options, review the details and estimated credit cost, and publish. You can also save the setup as a draft and return later.
Be cautious about changing a live study because it can affect consistency and interpretation of results. If a material change is needed, contact support or create a new distribution or test version so earlier and later responses are not unintentionally mixed.

Results and timing
10Timing depends on the audience, number of participants, targeting criteria and study availability. Results can appear as participants respond, but Azi should not promise a fixed 24- or 48-hour turnaround unless it has been agreed for that study.
Open the test and choose its results view. Results are organised by variant and by each Send Live distribution, with statuses such as Live, Completed, Draft, Cancelled or Expired.
You can review responses for multiple-choice and open-text questions. For Figma tasks, the portal provides click heatmaps and participant flow paths showing how people moved through the prototype.
Results may appear as valid responses arrive. Treat early results as incomplete and avoid drawing conclusions before the intended sample has finished.
Check the distribution status, participant progress and whether you are viewing the correct variant or send-live group. A live test may simply not have completed responses yet. If responses were expected but do not appear, contact support with the workspace, test and distribution names.
The current portal includes a download icon, but a reliable export workflow has not been confirmed. Review results in the portal and contact Azi if you need an export for a specific project.
Do not assume every study is recorded. The current documented self-serve flow captures answers and Figma click paths; audio, video, webcam or screen recording must be disclosed and specifically supported for the study. Contact Azi if recording is essential to your research plan.
A heatmap shows where participants clicked on a prototype screen. Use it with the task instructions, goal completion and individual paths; a popular click is not automatically a correct or incorrect design decision.
The business retains ownership of its uploaded content and commissioned research outputs, subject to participant rights, privacy law, study disclosures and any applicable agreement. Public use of an identifiable participant's name, image, voice or recording requires separate permission.
Retention depends on the type of information, the study notice, the business's instructions, legal requirements and Azi's retention rules. Properly de-identified information may be retained for longer.

Pricing, credits and rewards
10Early adopter access and beta pricing are currently arranged directly with Azi and may differ from the subscription plans offered at general launch. The portal does not yet include self-service plan selection or checkout. Contact support@aziresearch.com for the current offer, credit allocation and any study-specific recruitment or incentive costs.
Self-service subscriptions are not currently available in the portal. Subscription plans are planned, and the public terms already explain how paid subscriptions will operate once offered. Until then, use the early adopter arrangement confirmed directly by Azi.
Not necessarily. Early adopter and beta pricing may change as the platform and subscription offering develop. Azi should give reasonable notice of future pricing changes; a confirmed paid period or signed commercial agreement should not be changed retrospectively except as that agreement allows.
The current legal terms anticipate monthly or annual plans that renew automatically until cancelled. Cancellation would normally take effect at the end of the paid billing period.
Credits are the workspace balance used when you recruit through Azi Crew. Before publishing, the Send Live flow estimates the credit cost using the participant count and expected test duration.
There is no self-service credit purchase in the portal yet. Use the email option shown beside your credit balance or contact support@aziresearch.com to request a top-up.
No Azi Crew credits are charged for an Own Participants distribution. Other agreed services or managed research costs may still apply.
Any expiry rule must be disclosed when credits are issued or purchased. Purchased and promotional credits may have different conditions. Check your current early adopter agreement or ask support rather than assuming credits never expire.
Purchased credits are generally not redeemable for cash and are generally non-refundable. Azi may restore credits incorrectly deducted because of a verified technical error. Recruitment, partner and incentive costs may become non-refundable once work begins or a cost is incurred.
When subscriptions launch, you will be able to cancel according to the plan and applicable terms. Cancellation will normally take effect at the end of the current paid period and will not automatically delete your workspace or results. Partly used periods are generally non-refundable, subject to law.

Data, privacy and integrations
11Azi applies reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, confidentiality measures, backups and security monitoring. No online service can promise absolute security, so use a strong unique password and report suspicious activity promptly.
For account and platform information, Azi is generally the responsible party. For study responses and recordings, the relevant business or research sponsor may determine the purpose and act as the responsible party, while Azi processes information on its behalf.
Only for the purposes explained to the participant or otherwise lawfully authorised. A business may not add participants to another database, contact them for unrelated purposes or publicly use identifiable contributions without the required permission.
No. Studies must not collect passwords, one-time PINs, full payment-card details or authentication credentials. If a study requests these, stop and report it to Azi.
Azi's privacy notices and data-processing terms are designed around South African privacy requirements, including POPIA. The business running a study also has responsibilities for lawful, fair and transparent use of participant information.
AI analysis must be disclosed where relevant. If an external AI provider processes identifiable or confidential study information, suitable authority, disclosure and safeguards are required. Do not assume that every study uses AI.
Yes. You can update eligible details in the portal and can ask Azi to access, correct or delete eligible information, object to certain processing or opt out of optional communications. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, payment or backup reasons. Privacy requests can be sent to privacy@aziresearch.com.
Azi may use hosting and other service providers, including providers outside South Africa, with appropriate safeguards. Contact privacy@aziresearch.com if your organisation needs current hosting, transfer or subprocessor details.
The currently verified integration is with Figma prototypes. General integrations with analytics, research or design tools, and reliable results export, should not be promised until they are implemented and verified.
Yes, provided you have permission to upload and test them and apply appropriate study disclosures and access controls. Participants are contractually required to keep confidential study material private, but no contractual or technical safeguard can guarantee that misuse will never occur.
Yes. Essential technologies support functions such as login, security and preferences. Analytics, preference or marketing technologies may also be used as described in the Cookie Notice and, where required, according to your choices.

Accounts, workspaces and support
13Check that you selected the correct Business or Participant login and used the email address or phone number linked to your account. Use Forgot Password to request a one-time code and reset your password. If the code does not arrive, check the address or number, wait briefly before retrying and contact support.
Confirm that your email address or phone number is correct, check spam or blocked-message folders and avoid requesting many codes in quick succession. If the latest code still does not work, contact support using the details associated with your account.
A workspace is the shared area where a business manages tests, folders, media, members, credits and results. A person can belong to more than one workspace and switch between them from the sidebar.
Yes. Workspace Owners can invite people by email as Owners, Editors or Viewers, monitor invitation status and revoke a pending invitation. The current workspace limit is five Editors.
Owners manage the workspace and members. Editors can create and edit tests and most study content but cannot manage all workspace-level settings. Viewers have read-only access.
The current portal has a fixed limit of five Editors per workspace. Review existing members and roles, or contact Azi if your early adopter arrangement requires a larger team.
Create folders, rename or move them, and move tests into the appropriate folder. The default folder is protected from moving or deletion. Search works across tests and folders, and deleted folders can be restored from trash.
Yes. Folders and media-library images have trash and restore workflows. Permanent deletion cannot be assumed recoverable, and an image still used by a test may show a warning before deletion.
The image may still be referenced by one or more tests. Check its usage count in the media library, remove or replace it in those tests, and then try again.
Email support@aziresearch.com. Include the portal you use, your workspace or study name, what you expected, what happened, the approximate time and your device/browser. Do not send passwords, one-time PINs, full card details or confidential study material unnecessarily.
Email privacy@aziresearch.com. Explain whether the concern relates to your Azi account or a particular study and include enough information to identify the relevant record without sending unnecessary sensitive information.
Include the page or study name, date and approximate time, device, browser, connection type, the action you took and the exact error message. A screenshot can help, but remove or obscure personal and confidential information first.
Yes, where reasonably necessary for suspected fraud, duplicate accounts, material false information, confidentiality violations, abuse, security risk, non-payment, unlawful content or a serious breach of the terms. Where appropriate and lawful, Azi will explain the general reason and allow a response.
